a deep philosophy of wabi-sabi
shallows in the tidal pools of your palms
water rushes over cracked earth
you retrace tides through clay
grounding mud with reversing rhythms
you see nature’s aerial view minds algae

Artist Statement
Since the days of childhood, I have been engrossed with New Brunswick’s rugged coastline and serine rolling hill interiors. I like things that are unique, authentic and irregular. I love tinkering with familiar shapes and reconfiguring them into contemporary forms. The surfaces come to life through my constant development and exploration of the glaze surfaces. With no standards to saturation and hues, the textured surfaces bring to mind lichen, bark or the parched, cracked earth. Each work may have their surfaces added to or partially removed until I am satisfied and intrigued by the delicate surfaces of unpredictability that occurs.

Démarche de l’artiste
Depuis mon enfance, je suis fasciné par le littoral accidenté du Nouveau-Brunswick et par les paysages vallonnés de l’intérieur des terres. J’aime les choses qui sont uniques, authentiques et de forme irrégulière. J’aime bricoler des formes familières et les reconfigurer en formes modernes. Les surfaces prennent vie grâce à mon exploration des surfaces émaillées que je développe sans cesse. Sans aucune contrainte de saturation ni de teinte, les surfaces texturées évoquent le lichen, l’écorce ou la terre desséchée et craquelée. Les surfaces de chaque œuvre peuvent être superposées ou effritées partiellement jusqu’à ce que je sois satisfait et intrigué par les surfaces délicates de l’imprévisible qui se manifeste.
